Welcome to Nursery

Our teacher is Mrs Woodall and our teaching assistants are Miss Mahoney and Miss Cooper.  We currently have 17 children in our class.

Our theme in Early Years this half term is based around the question Who Lives in a Rock Pool? We began exploring this question with a memorable morning; where we made different scented dough ice cream, listened to The Rock Pool Hulabaloo, played with beach inflatables, shared real ice creams, fished for sound crabs and made pretend ice lollies.

We then focused on various stories such as Sharing a Shell, One is a Snail, How to catch a Star and Barry the Fish with Fingers.  These sparked the children’s imaginations and interests and lead onto different activities based around being at the beach and seashore/ocean creatures.  We have even created our own ice cream van!

We also follow our children’s leads and interests so new lines of enquiry continuously emerge. This theme will also enable us to support the children to think about things that happen in the season of summer and how we keep safe in the sun.

To celebrate our final theme of the year we are looking forward to a visit from Zoolab.  This will enable us to look at a variety of different creatures and think about their features and habitats. We will also be preparing for our sports day towards the end of term.

Sammy our class star continues to go on a little adventure each week when he goes home with our ‘Star of the Week’. The children love to hear about what he has got up to and take great pride in contributing to his special book… this is one of our favourite books in nursery.
